Listening to God

Rocky Mountain National Park, CO

I live on the east coast. A year ago I was driving down the road praying about moving into a larger house because of our growing family when God suddenly stopped me and said, "You are going to move away." and I said, "Where?" and He said, "Colorado, to help start a church." Now my husband and I have NEVER, EVER considered moving away from friends and family so this news was quite a blow. I knew it was my Lord's voice and I just cried and cried. (and I'm pretty sure there was a "Noooo way am I doing that!" in there) I went home and told my husband what I had heard and for the past year we have been praying about this. God has also spoken to my husband and has confirmed that yes indeed, this is His plan for us. Our house is now on the market. We are scared. We have two children under the age of 2. Our friends and family are here. I don't know how we are going to do this but I do know that I trust my Lord. We will listen to Him and do whatever He says because He created us, knows what's best for us and died to save us.

  1. When I married, I moved from upstate New York to Seattle with my husband. It was hard to move so far from family so young, and to start my own family thousands of miles away from them all, but that is where God called me in my vocation. It is a HUGE leap of faith to leave our roots behind, but He is faithful; He grows new roots.

  2. Moving away from what you are familiar with is scary. Especially when you are leaving behind family and friends. But He has you in His hands and everything will be okay.

Do you know where you are moving to yet?
I have a feeling you've told me this before, or else it was someone else... :)

  3. I would like to thank you for sharing your experience. I love to hear how God is working in other people's lives. I know God will take care of you and your family and will provide what you need once you get to CO. I will try and keep you and your new adventure in my prayers!
    God Bless!!
