Water Pitcher Mat Thingy...

There's probably a name for this type of thing I just can't think of one right now.

Okay so it has become very important to have a pitcher of ice water at the dinner table every night. I don't really know why, for some reason this small bit of consistency brings me comfort. Maybe because no matter how chaotic dinner is, with the fighting of the toddler to sit and stay at the table, and the infant crying in her bouncy chair right next to the main dish and the two exhausted parents struggling to get some food down....just all of us being together and having our water at arms reach makes it all okay.

So I felt the need to set my pitcher and cups on something pretty and I wanted to be able to hang it up so this is what I came up with. A simple project, but it was nice to be able to sew something because it's been a while.

  3. That's so pretty! When our family was in that phase of life, we had a comforting routine, too. Late in the evening, we'd light a candle at the kitchen table, put on quiet music and have a glass of wine. It felt like a little oasis of sanity. You need those things.
