Very Simple Crochet Blanket

I have not been posting much mainly because it's taking me a while to get into the swing of things in my new home/town/state/side of the country and I'm not rushing things. I did however manage to finish my throw that I started oh, last winter I think. I love how it turned out. I'm a beginner crocheter and I'm not very good with patterns so I just kind of did what I wanted and it turned out nice I think.

I used Lion Brand's Wool-Ease Thick & Quick yarn with a 10mm hook. I started with the white and crocheted a chain as long as another throw I had and then single crocheted until the skein was gone and then singled crocheted an oatmeal color until that was gone and then white again, etc., etc. until the throw was as long as I wanted. It took 8 skeins of yarn and a little more white for the border.

  1. Wow, it's beautiful! I've always wanted to make a blanket, but I just don't have the patience. Love yours! Maybe you could just send it over? ;)

  3. What were the final measurements of your blanket? I love how it looks but am wondering just how much yarn I'll be investing in a blanket the size of my standard throws.

    Great job!!!

  4. I found this blanket on Pinterest and I've fallen in love. I'm a brand-spankin' new crocheter, but reading that this was something new for you also has given me hope that I can recreate a blanket similar to this too! Thank you so much for posting this!

    1. Jess ~ I'm inspired by your project and have bought all the supplies. I too am a beginner so I have confidence that I can pull this off too! I also want to ask, as someone else before me, what were your final measurements. Knowing this would certainly guide me forward!

  9. I love this! One question: did you start a new color immediately when a color ends or did you work it so you finished a row out then started a new color? Can't really tell by your pic.

  11. I guess I am doing something wrong because I am using a 10mm hook and doing single crochet and it is taking far more than 10 balls of yarn. It is also the width of a standard throw - 54 inches. Any insight?

  13. Hi Amanda, I also am new to crochet. But I have been watching many UTUBE videos on it and you can learn step by step. It's so easy to follow. Good luck.

  14. I loved the simplicity of using one skein of yarn til done and then the other! I did one with a seed stitch for a baby blanket and it turned out beautifully!
